General Carpenter

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and motivated General Carpenter to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of residential and commercial renovation and construction projects. The successful candidate will perform a broad range of carpentry, renovation, repair, and construction activities while working independently and alongside project managers, team leads, subcontractors, and other trades.

ResponsibilitiesCarpentry & Construction
- Perform framing, structural modifications, blocking, backing installation, and general carpentry work.
- Construct, repair, and modify walls, ceilings, floors, roofs, and other building components.
- Install doors, windows, hardware, and building accessories.
- Complete demolition and site preparation activities as required.
- Perform general renovation and repair work on residential and commercial projects.
- Complete finishing work including trim, baseboards, casing, shelving, and related carpentry tasks.
- Install insulation, vapour barrier, and other building envelope components.
- Read and interpret drawings, plans, specifications, and work orders.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes and quality standards.
Site Organization & Project Support
- Prepare and organize work areas for construction activities.
- Protect existing finishes, furnishings, and client property.
- Organize materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site.
- Assist with material handling, deliveries, and inventory management.
Quality, Safety & Communication
- Complete work to a high standard with strong attention to detail.
- Inspect completed work and identify deficiencies requiring correction.
- Coordinate activities with project managers, site leads, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Provide updates regarding project progress, material requirements, and site challenges.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Identify and report safety concerns and site issues.
QualificationsRequired
- Experience in residential and/or commercial construction and renovation.
- Broad knowledge of construction methods, materials, and renovation practices.
- Ability to complete carpentry and renovation tasks independently.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and job site operations.
- Ability to perform accurate measurements, layouts, and installations.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation preferred.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
