Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bakery Assistant to join our vibrant bakery team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic food industry environment, contributing to the preparation and presentation of delicious baked goods. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking, excellent customer service skills, and a keen eye for detail. This position is perfect for individuals interested in developing their culinary skills and gaining hands-on experience in a professional bakery setting. This is a true baker position, early morning production required to meet demands of our two cafes & a private event space.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation, including mixing, measuring, and assembling ingredients for various baked goods
- Decorate cakes and pastries using cake decorating techniques to ensure visually appealing products
- Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, and packaging machines safely and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery workspace in accordance with food safety standards
- Package baked items carefully for retail display or customer orders, ensuring quality control
- Support the team during busy periods by restocking supplies and managing customer orders when needed
- Follow all food handling and safety protocols to ensure a hygienic environment
- Contribute to the creation of new baked goods and menu items by providing input and feedback
Experience
- Previous experience in a bakery, restaurant, or food service environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Skills in cake decorating, food preparation, cooking, and baking are highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures is beneficial
- Experience with kitchen equipment operation and food packaging techniques is advantageous
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers
- A passion for baking and culinary arts with an eagerness to learn new techniques and industry trends
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
