JOB TITLE: Night Custodian
JOB TYPE: Part-Time
LOCATION: OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
THE POSITION:
The OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre is looking for detail-oriented and reliable Facility Maintenance and Custodial Associate(s) to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of our premier athletic facility. Our maintenance team ensures that all members, guests, and staff enjoy a clean, safe, and welcoming environment through diligent daily cleaning, proactive facility maintenance, and seasonal outdoor care. A strong work ethic, a hand-on approach to basic repairs, and a commitment to health and safety standards are strong assets for this position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Custodial & Facility Cleanliness
- Maintain indoor spaces: Sweep, dust, and vacuum all assigned areas, including court walkway mats, the main lobby, and entranceways.
- Sanitize washrooms: Clean, disinfect, and fully restock washroom facilities daily.
- General cleaning: Wipe counters, empty and sanitize waste receptacles, and dust furniture, fixtures, and baseboards.
- Glass and surfaces: Clean interior glass, walls, partitions, doors, and windows.
- Floor care: Damp-mop floors as required, particularly during winter months, to prevent slipping hazards and track-in debris.
Grounds & Facility Maintenance
- Outdoor upkeep: Clean and clear external areas, including parking lots, sidewalks, entranceways, and exits.
- Seasonal groundskeeping: Perform outdoor yard duties, including lawn maintenance, landscaping, and winter snow and ice removal.
- Basic repairs & upkeep: Perform general facility maintenance tasks, including minor carpentry, painting, and basic manual repairs to the building and grounds.
- Preventative maintenance: Conduct routine preventative maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
- Logistics: Safely load, unload, and organize facility supplies and deliveries.
Safety, Equipment & Administration
- Equipment care: Ensure all maintenance tools and cleaning equipment are regularly inspected, cleaned, and kept in good working order.
- Hazard reporting: Immediately identify and report any observed or potential safety hazards to ensure a secure environment.
- Regulatory compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Communication & logs: Complete and maintain accurate facility records, such as maintenance logs, and promptly communicate any major repair needs to management.
Facility Security & Night Supervision
- Site security & monitoring: Act as the primary on-site security presence during evening and night shifts, actively monitoring the facility and supervising the premises to prevent unauthorized entry or behavior.
- Facility lockup: Perform comprehensive nightly shutdown and lockup procedures, ensuring all entrance and building doors are locked and security alarms are properly armed.
- Incident management: Handle any security or safety-related incidents on-site in a calm, professional manner and escalate issues to management or authorities as necessary.
REQUIRED AVAILABILITY:
The Night Custodian will be scheduled to work from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am throughout the week.
