Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-time Payroll Clerk to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with applicable Collective Agreements, company policies, and relevant legislation. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience within a dynamic team, while supporting the smooth operations of our payroll department. The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, experience with payroll systems and accounting software, and the ability to manage sensitive information with a high level of discretion. Experience processing payroll in a unionized environment is considered a strong asset.
Job location: Vancouver (near Lougheed Hwy and Boundary Road)
Working hours: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Scheduled days of work: 2 week days per week (we will work with the successful candidate to determine the days of work based on operational needs)
Duties
- Payroll processing and reviewing employees' time data through ADP WorkForceNow
- Reconciliation of hours
- ROE (Record of Employment) preparations and submissions
- Maintain accurate records of employee hours, deductions, and benefits
- Support human resources functions by maintaining employee records and assisting with payroll-related queries and queries from external agencies (including WorkSafeBC, ICBC, etc.)
- Manage data entry tasks related to payroll, ensuring all information is precise and up-to-date
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies
- Collaborate with accounting and HR departments to resolve discrepancies or issues promptly
Requirements
- Certificate in Payroll Administration from a recognized educational institution or relevant credential
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and relevant employment laws, including Employment Standards, CRA requirements, etc.
- Proven experience with payroll processing and relevant accounting software
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy levels
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM
- Knowledge of accounts payable procedures and financial reconciliation processes
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Analytical skills to interpret payroll data and generate reports
- Familiarity with human resources practices and employment legislation
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication within a team
- Prior experience in a similar role or environment is desirable but not essential
