Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver for seasonal work. This will be short term which could possibly lead to longer term additional seasonal work. 2-3 days a week. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight and materials to various local destinations while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. This role offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a busy environment, utilizing both thinking skills and equipment operation expertise. Candidates with experience in commercial driving, and heavy equipment handling are highly preferred. A strong commitment to safety, punctuality, honesty, and professionalism is essential for success in this position and future positions.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks to deliver freight and materials across local designated routes
- Load and unload freight sometimes with chains and or straps
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs using phone apps
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle operability
- Coordinate with warehouse staff for efficient loading and unloading processes
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during transportation activities
Requirements
- Valid BC Class 1 Drivers License with a clean driving record: required driver abstract N Print and job references are mandatory.
- Experience in commercial driving and freight transportation required: 5 years.
- Driving exerience in Lower Mainland and Valley required, knowledge of proper routes and accessability is a must
- There will be some loading and off loading, mostly strapping down and or using chains.
- The vast knowledge of transporting different items to different customers daily is a regular occurance
- Understanding specs for oversized or overheight loads and aquiring permits
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to freight handling and vehicle operation
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and compliance records
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Physical ability to lift, move, or handle freight weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
- Prior experience with automotive repair or troubleshooting is advantageous
- Must pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment
- Possess Steel toe/shank boots, reflective wear, hard hat
