Description
Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for the overall day-to-day cleaning and security of the physical plant including but not limited to, floor, entrances, surfaces, walls, furniture and fixtures, in addition to the removal of soiled linen and refuse to ensure the continued safe and sanitary operation of the building, equipment and grounds. Assumes responsibility for the overall day-to-day operation of the Hospital’s Laundry Department.
Position Relationships
Functions as a member of the support team and works under the direction of the Manager of Operations. Works with all staff to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Organization and excellent service to our clients is achieved.
Duties:
- Ensures the safety and security of patients, residents, visitors and staff through appropriate checks and inspections of building furniture and equipment within assigned areas to ensure all areas are hazard free, secure and clean.
- Is responsible for security related tasks such as, locking and unlocking the building, monitoring staff only areas, assisting with security services during emergencies, and other security related tasks as assigned.
- Ensures that all linen is properly cleaned, and folded and in sufficient supply to meet the needs of the Organization and clients.
- Provide shift coverage on short-notice, as circumstances require.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures.
- Supports and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of Deep River and District Health.
- Other duties may be assigned and may not be limited to the scope of an individual department.
Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or equivalent.
- Housekeeping training/certification preferred.
- Infection Prevention and Control training/certification preferred.
- Gentle Persuasive Approach certification preferred.
- Related experience in an acute care hospital or Long-Term Care setting preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and co-ordinate tasks and duties with team members.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required.
