Position Summary
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of payroll and benefits for the organization. This role supports payroll processing, benefits administration, employee lifecycle changes, reporting, and payroll compliance activities while ensuring alignment with applicable legislation, organizational policies and payroll best practices.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, People & Culture, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist works closely with Finance to support payroll accuracy, reporting requirements, reconciliations and internal controls while contributing to a positive employee experience through responsive and confidential service.
Role Status
This position is open due to an existing position vacancy and organizational role restructuring.
Key Skills and Capabilities
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation including ESA and CRA requirements
- Have post secondary education in Accounting related field or equivalent experience
- Have or working towards their Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is considered an asset
- Have a minimum 5 years of payroll and benefits administration experience
- Experience processing payroll using Ceridian Dayforce is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
- Ability to complete payroll reconciliations, reporting, and variance analysis accurately
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service focused approach
- Ability to collaborate effectively across People & Culture and Finance functions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
Working Conditions
This role includes the following working conditions:
- Work location: This role may be eligible for hybrid work based on operational requirements and organizational needs.
- Schedule: Regular business hours with flexibility required during payroll processing periods and year-end activities.
- Travel requirements: Occasional local travel

Compensation
The expected compensation annual salary range for this role is: $58,302 to $63,398
Placement within the range will be based on demonstrated skills, relevant experience and internal equity considerations.
