Job Description
In Your Kitchen is a new in-home cooking service that connects clients with reliable cooks who prepare fresh, personalized meals directly in the clients’ homes.
We are looking for caring, dependable, and capable cooks to serve clients throughout North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and the Greater Vancouver area. Our clients may include seniors, busy families, individuals recovering from surgery, illness, or injury, and people who would benefit from support with home-cooked meals.
This is an independent contractor opportunity with flexible hours. Cooks can accept available bookings based on their schedule and preferred service area.
Responsibilities
- Travel to clients’ homes to prepare meals in their kitchens.
- Prepare fresh, home-cooked meals according to client preferences and dietary needs.
- Work respectfully and professionally in clients’ private homes.
- Follow proper food safety and hygiene practices.
- Keep the cooking area clean and organized.
- Clean the kitchen area after meal preparation.
- Communicate reliably with clients and the In Your Kitchen team.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Enjoy cooking and helping others.
- Valid FOODSAFE certification is required.
- Must be willing to complete a criminal record check before being approved to work with clients.
- Must be comfortable working independently in private homes.
- Reliable transportation or a reliable way to travel to client locations is required.
- Strong cleanliness, organization, and communication skills.
- Prior cooking, meal preparation, caregiving, hospitality, or home-service experience is not required, but is highly recommended.
Pay and Scheduling
- Pay: $30 per hour
- Flexible, part-time contractor opportunities.
- Hours depend on client bookings, your availability, and preferred service locations.

Interview Process
Selected applicants will complete a two-step selection process:
- Zoom Interview — A virtual meeting to discuss your cooking background, availability, service area, and suitability for working in clients’ homes.
- Trial Cook — A practical cooking assessment to demonstrate food preparation skills, cleanliness, organization, kitchen safety, and professionalism.

In Your Kitchen provides in-home meal preparation services for clients who want the comfort of fresh, home-cooked meals without having to prepare them themselves. Our cooks work directly in clients’ kitchens, creating meals suited to their needs and leaving the cooking area clean after the service.
