POSITION SUMMARY:
The Counsellor - RCCMA provides registered clinical counselling support for relatives with more complex
therapeutic and documentation needs within SIHLRC’s care model. This role contributes to higher-acuity
counselling, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary coordination grounded in trauma-informed and culturally
respectful practice. The position supports clinical continuity across day and evening coverage blocks.

approach, including Siksikaitsitapi teachings, Blackfoot cultural values, trauma-informed practice, harm reduction,
and Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Provide individual and group counselling for relatives with complex therapeutic needs.
2. Conduct assessment, treatment planning, and clinical documentation to professional standards.
3. Support higher-acuity case consultation and interdisciplinary coordination.
4. Participate in case conferences, risk review, and integrated treatment planning.
5. Deliver counselling in trauma-informed, culturally respectful, and recovery-oriented ways.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of counselling theory, therapeutic intervention, and clinical documentation.
- Ability to support higher-acuity relatives within an integrated recovery environment.
- Strong assessment, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Ability to work within trauma-informed, culturally respectful, and recovery-oriented practice.
- Ability to support assigned day and evening coverage blocks reliably.
Education and Experience
Current RCC or equivalent registered clinical counselling credential, plus a master’s degree in counselling,
psychology, social work, or a related field.
Minimum three years of professional counselling experience, preferably in addiction, mental health, or recovery-
oriented settings.
Training in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and/or Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC).
Professional Designation/Certification/Licenses:
First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
Other:
Requires general knowledge of the Siksika Nation culture and some ability to communicate in the Siksika language.
