Position Overview:
We are recruiting an experienced lead operator to support a long-term water treatment operation tied to a major environmental project. This role will be the Operator of Record and will provide mentorship, support, and guidance to a team of operators running and maintaining treatment systems to ensure reliable performance, protect environmental outcomes, and meet all regulatory requirements. The position will also provide hands-on operational support when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a senior operator and provide on-site guidance and technical support to wastewater operators
- Coordinate daily operational activities, helping prioritize work and ensure tasks are completed efficiently
- Support treatment process performance by advising on system adjustments to maintain regulatory compliance and operational stability
- Review operational records, sampling results, and logs to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Assist with identifying and resolving process or equipment-related issues in collaboration with the team
- Promote and reinforce safe work practices, environmental compliance, and site standards
- Contribute to effective shift handovers by communicating site conditions, risks, and priorities
- Monitor site performance and proactively identify potential risks, inefficiencies, or deviations
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years experience working in industrial water treatment operations is required. Work experience in cold climate, northern region preferred
- Water treatment certification (WPI Class II, or III) is required, ECOP Level II may be considered
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required
- ·Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate operational records
- Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Work Environment:
- Remote project site with a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) rotational work schedule
- In town accommodation provided during rotations
- Exposure to outdoor conditions and variable weather depending on site location
