Biomedical Service Technician
Location: Markham, ON (On-site + approx. 50% GTHA travel)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 per year
About the Role
We are a growing medical device service organization supporting physiotherapy, chiropractic, and rehabilitation clinics across Canada. As our service department continues to expand, we are seeking a Service Technician to join our team.
Candidates with strong customer service skills, technical aptitude, and a willingness to learn will be highly successful in this role. We place a strong emphasis on attitude, teamwork, and attention to detail. In this position, you will take ownership of service work from intake through to completion, combining electronics repair, customer technical support, and accountable documentation. Your contributions will have a visible impact on customer satisfaction and our overall business success.
Job Description
- Diagnose, repair, and service a wide range of biomedical and clinical equipment, including shockwave, ultrasound, electrotherapy, rehab equipment, and treatment tables
- Perform safety and performance verification testing, repairs, calibrations, and preventative maintenance using calibrated diagnostic tools and test equipment
- Maintain clear, accurate, thorough, and compliant documentation for all service activities using internal software systems to track service, parts, and inventory efficiently
- Identify, source, and document compliant replacement parts for repairs, balancing quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to internal processes and manufacturer and regulatory standards
- Provide technical support to customers via phone, email, and on-site visits
- Take ownership of assigned and incoming service requests, inventory inspections, and quality control processes, ensuring accountability from intake through to completion
- Prioritize and manage multiple service requests effectively, minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction
- Coordinate customers, vendors and internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery
Qualifications
Education:
- Degree, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in:
- Biomedical Engineering Technology
- Electronics Engineering Technology
- Or a related technical field
Experience (Preferred):
- 2–5 years in:
- Medical device service
- Electronics repair
- Field service or technical support
Core Skills & Attributes
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and hands-on electronics repair skills
- Solid technical aptitude with an understanding of electronic systems
- Proficient with tools and diagnostic test equipment used in electronics and medical device service, and/or a willingness to learn
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with strong English proficiency (written and verbal)
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and prioritizes documentation
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple service tasks effectively and independently while maintaining accuracy, accountability, and follow-through
- Positive attitude with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset and strong sense of ownership
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 60 lbs (with assistance if required)
- Comfortable working in both electronics workshops and in clinical settings
- Willingness to support cross-functional responsibilities beyond technical tasks
