Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor 5-axis CNC milling machines with Fanuc controls to produce intricate parts from metals and plastics.
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM programming software, ensuring efficient machining processes.
- Interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and CAD models to accurately produce components.
- Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions.
- Conduct routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues related to tooling, machine operation, or programming.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and tooling fixtures for setup adjustments and minor repairs.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly processes involving plastics injection molding or welding when necessary.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of production runs, inspection reports, and machine logs for quality assurance purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience operating 5-axis CNC milling machines with Fanuc controls or similar CNC systems.
- Strong background in CNC programming using CAM software; familiarity with SolidWorks and CAD is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings for complex parts fabrication.
- Hands-on experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus but not required.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and precision measurement techniques.
- Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and other manufacturing machinery.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions and tolerances accurately.
- Experience working within lean manufacturing environments or plastics injection molding facilities is advantageous.
