Department: Mobile Crisis
The Registered Nurse on the Mobile Crisis Team works collaboratively with police and community partners to provide immediate mental health crisis intervention and support within the community. The role involves assisting with crisis de-escalation, conducting mental health and risk assessments, and supporting apprehensions under the Mental Health Act when required. The Registered Nurse facilitates access to appropriate services and supports, including emergency psychiatric assessment, safe bed programs, ongoing mental health case management, treatment services, and other community-based resources to promote stabilization and continuity of care.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) certificate required (within the last twelve months)
- Minimum three (3) years’ recent experience in a Mental Health and Addictions setting required
- Demonstrated experience conducting comprehensive assessments, including risk, biopsychosocial, physiological, and consultation assessments with individuals and service providers required
- Demonstrated clinical competency in caring for patients with a broad range of mental health conditions across the lifespan required
- Extensive knowledge of inpatient mental health services, community-based programs, and related support services required
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology, with a focus on psychiatric pharmacology, required
- Ability to work collaboratively in partnership with the North Bay Police Service required
- Ability to provide Mental Health and Addictions education and awareness to a variety of stakeholders required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required
- Excellent verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention skills required
- Valid Class G driver’s license and acceptable Ministry of Transportation driver’s abstract required
- Ability and willingness to travel required

- Demonstrated basic computer proficiency required
- Demonstrated commitment to personal safety and the safety of patients, staff, volunteers, and visitors required
- Ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events required
- Demonstrated good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
