Construction Accountant
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, project costing, financial reporting, and progress billing. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial management of construction projects while supporting operational and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Perform job costing, project cost analysis, and profitability reporting.
- Manage progress billing, invoicing, and contract billing requirements.
- Track and monitor inventory, material costs, and project expenditures.
- Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements and management reports.
- Perform project cost analysis and profitability reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with HST regulations and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Support continuous improvement of accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls.
Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience in construction accounting, with a strong understanding of construction industry financial processes.
- Demonstrated experience with job costing, progress billing, project accounting, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of inventory management, material cost tracking, and project profitability analysis.
- Strong understanding of HST compliance and Canadian accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and operational teams.
Preferred
- Experience with Sage Accounting or similar accounting software.
- Experience using Power BI, reporting dashboards, or AI-driven reporting tools.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
