Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Director to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across multiple construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop overall project strategies, objectives, and execution plans
- Define project scope, deliverables, and success metrics aligned with business goals
- Oversee feasibility studies, risk assessments, and resource planning
- Establish governance frameworks and decision-making processes
- Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, superintendents, and support staff
- Set performance expectations, accountability measures, and conduct performance reviews
- Oversee staffing plans, resource allocation, and workload balancing
- Facilitate project meetings to review progress, risks, and alignment with objectives
- Support recruitment and professional development initiatives
- Ensure effective scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning across all project phases
- Monitor KPIs and overall project performance
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control strategies
- Negotiate and approve major contracts, subcontracts, and procurement agreements
- Oversee financial reporting, claims management, and change orders
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and financial objectives
- Act as the primary liaison between clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Maintain strong client relationships to support satisfaction and repeat business
- Ensure adherence to health & safety regulations and quality standards
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Lead issue resolution and crisis management when required
- Provide executive-level reporting on project status, including cost, schedule, scope, and quality
- Oversee project completion, commissioning, and handover processes
- Ensure proper project closeout, including documentation and warranty management
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing commercial construction projects from start to finish
- Proven experience with mid-to-large general contractors (union experience considered an asset)
- Professional designations are considered an asset
- Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, trades, and industry best practices
- Familiarity with applicable workplace regulations, safety standards, and building codes
- Strong financial management and cost control experience
- Experience with labour relations and collective agreements considered an asset
- Experience with project accounting systems is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required
Pay: $120,000.00-$160,000.00 per year
