Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automotive repair, heavy equipment maintenance, and industrial machinery. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of diesel-powered vehicles excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy-duty machinery. The Diesel Mechanic will ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely, supporting our operations across multiple industries. Candidates with dealership experience and strong mechanical knowledge are highly preferred.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and related systems across a wide range of equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and electrical testing equipment
- Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed to repair or modify equipment
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely to disassemble, repair, or replace components
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform electrical repairs on industrial equipment
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed
- Assist with the assembly and installation of new machinery or equipment
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely to move parts or machinery during repairs or maintenance
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Travel between Kitchener, Ayr, and the GTA area servicing and repairing lifts
- Must have vehicle and valid G license
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment and automotive repair; dealership experience is a plus
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and schematics
- Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, HVAC systems, and industrial equipment
- Proficiency in welding, use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance procedures
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to read technical manuals and schematics
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions
- Strong customer service skills when interacting with clients or team members
- Relevant certifications or licenses related to diesel mechanics or heavy equipment operation are preferred
