Position Overview: Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor and primarily working out of Elevation Place, the Facility Operator’s main responsibility is to ensure the smooth operations of this multi-use recreation facility. Responsibilities involve providing safe and efficient pool operations, keeping the facility clean, helping with room bookings and events, and some basic facility maintenance.
The Facility Operator is responsible for the delivery of high quality custodial and maintenance services at the Canmore Elevation Place with a focus on teamwork, excellent customer service and good communication. In this role, you will take the lead in keeping the multi-use recreation facility clean, organized and welcoming for all users. This includes extensive custodial duties, providing safe and efficient pool operations, room bookings and events, basic maintenance tasks and providing exceptional customer service to our diverse clientele. Shifts are scheduled on weekends, evenings and holidays allowing for great work-life balance.

Core Accountabilities:
- Follows established standard operating procedures for pool chemicals, repairs and maintenance, custodial duties, building checks, boiler systems, and equipment operations
- Is knowledgeable about activities and services taking place in the Facility
- Safely and effectively uses the proper tools and equipment for each task, including proper storage and maintenance of those items
- Efficiently accesses information in the room booking software (Class)
- Introductory Microsoft Office skills
- Willingness to learn the duties of Facility Operators in other Town of Canmore facilities, and backfill their shifts when needed
- Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development
Education, Experience & Certifications
- Class 5 Alberta driver’s license – required
- Standard 1st Aid & AED – required
- Pool Level 1 – asset
- Building Level 1 – asset
- WHMIS – asset
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma – asset
Abilities and Experience
- Ability to develop a high level of skill in pool and building operations – required
- Experience completing custodial duties and working with custodial equipment and supplies – asset
- Experience completing minor repairs and working with small hand tools – required
- Communicate clearly and understand instructions – required
- Able to work independently and reliably while unsupervised – required
- Ability to work in a team environment - required
- Able to complete repetitive tasks and conduct manual labour that includes heavy lifting - required
- Ability to work in variable conditions including hot environments – required
- Ability to work long shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays – required
- Experience in safe handling of cleaning chemicals and materials – asset
- Introductory computer skills working with Microsoft office programs (particularly Outlook), with the ability to create and edit a documents, utilize calendar functions, and send emails – required
- Experience working with pool mechanical systems – asset
Salary & Benefits:
- Full-time Temporary position for 6 months
- 8.5 hours a day for 5 days (40 hours per week)
- Pay range for this role is $ 32.43 - $35.11 per hour
- Working hours may vary depending on operational needs, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holiday shifts.
