Position Overview:
The Systems Engineer leads a team of subject matter experts to build system and process models of a fusion power plant for making system trade-offs, define sub-system requirements, and validate plant architectures. The successful applicant will be expected to hit the ground running and thrive in a fast-paced and constantly evolving work environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Systems Engineer looking for challenging work that has a direct impact on General Fusion’s ability to develop practical fusion energy solutions.
Responsibilities:

Work with teams that span the organization to understand and balance stakeholder needs, risk, and performance

Develop systems models to validate architecture, drive system requirements, and identify and evaluate mitigation options

Prepare high-quality documentation and present technical results to stakeholders at varying levels of technical depth across all parts of the business

Contribute to team development by sharing expertise, participating actively in design reviews, and helping refine and implement effective engineering processes.

Requirements:
-
Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering or engineering physics (with mechanical specialization),

Minimum 10 years’ experience designing integrated electro-mechanical systems.

Demonstrated ability to see the big picture; know when to get involved in the details
-
Experience with model-based systems engineering and or process modeling tools
-
Demonstrated experience working with design teams that have delivered effective solutions to technically challenging problems.

Strong understanding of engineering and physics first principles

Comfortable working to aggressive deadlines in a rapidly changing work environment where the path to feasible solutions is not always clear.

Demonstrated use of configuration management for managing and communicating evolving designs

Registration with EGBC as a Professional Engineer, or on-track to complete registration, is preferred
The typical hiring range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000. General Fusion considers many factors when determining total compensation, including job-specific or highly specialized knowledge, skills and experience, proficiency, job location and internal equity.
