Our client, a growing manufacturing organization in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, is seeking an experienced Production Engineering Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineering leader who enjoys working closely with production teams, improving manufacturing processes, and driving operational excellence within a growing organization.
The successful candidate will play a key role in bridging engineering, production, quality, and supply chain functions while supporting the development of efficient, scalable, and repeatable manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support production engineering activities to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Act as a technical resource supporting production teams, engineering initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Evaluate new products and designs for manufacturability, providing recommendations to improve production processes.
- Support the transition of new products from design concepts into efficient manufacturing processes.
- Develop and optimize production workflows, assembly processes, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
- Design and improve production layouts, workstations, and assembly processes to maximize efficiency.
- Develop and implement tooling, fixtures, and process improvements to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
- Identify opportunities for waste reduction and process improvement through Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Quality, Supply Chain, Production, and Engineering teams to improve overall operational performance.
- Support ERP system implementation and process improvements related to manufacturing operations.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to production engineering team members.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, industrial engineering, or a related discipline.
- Previous leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting new product introductions and production start-ups.
- Experience developing standard operating procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience using data and analysis to drive decision-making.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience within an aerospace, defence, electronics, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies or formal continuous improvement training.
- Experience with ERP system implementation or optimization.
- Experience with manufacturing quality standards and production documentation requirements.
