British Columbia | Remote
As a Virtual Nurse Practitioner supporting British Columbia's Urgent & Primary Care Centre (UPCC) program, you will provide timely, evidence-based episodic care to patients requiring same-day assessment for urgent, non life threatening health concerns.
Working from home as part of an interdisciplinary virtual care team, you will independently assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe, order investigations, and coordinate follow up for patients across the lifespan while ensuring safe, efficient, patient centred care. This role requires exceptional clinical judgement, adaptability, and the ability to confidently manage undifferentiated presentations within a fast-paced virtual environment.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner who thrives in acute decision making, enjoys technology enabled healthcare, and is passionate about improving access to primary care.
Conduct comprehensive virtual assessments using advanced clinical reasoning.
Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute, episodic, and primary care concerns.
Prescribe medications, order and interpret laboratory investigations and diagnostic imaging within scope.
Determine the most appropriate disposition, including self care, follow up, referral, or escalation to emergency services when clinically indicated.
Deliver evidence based, patient centred care through secure virtual platforms.
Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation within the electronic medical record.
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, patient flow coordinators, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
Participate in clinical handoffs and communicate critical information effectively to ensure continuity of care.
Support patients through education, preventative care, and health promotion initiatives.
Maintain awareness of provincial clinical guidelines, virtual care standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
Patients requiring emergency care are promptly identified and directed to the appropriate level of care. UPCCs are designed to manage urgent, non-life-threatening conditions that should generally be addressed within 12–24 hours rather than through an emergency department.
We're looking for clinicians who enjoy working in an environment that is:
Fast paced and clinically dynamic.
High volume while maintaining exceptional quality of care.
Technology driven and continuously evolving.
Collaborative despite working remotely.
Focused on timely decision-making and patient flow.
Successful providers are:
Comfortable making independent clinical decisions.
Highly organized with exceptional time management.
Calm under pressure.
Adaptable and flexible.
Excellent communicators.
Passionate about innovation in virtual healthcare.
Committed to delivering an exceptional patient experience.
Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
Eligibility to prescribe within British Columbia.
Minimum 3 years of independent Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
Recent experience in Primary Care, Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Family Practice, Walk-in Clinic, or Virtual Care.
Strong assessment and diagnostic skills across diverse patient populations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable using Electronic Medical Records and virtual healthcare technology.
Previous virtual care or telemedicine experience.
Experience working within an Urgent & Primary Care Centre.
Multi provincial licensure.
Experience collaborating within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Familiarity with virtual workflows and remote patient management.
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours/week
