As a Market Attendant, you’ll be creating memorable customer experiences while performing cashier and merchandising duties. This role is perfect for someone who thrives working independently, performs well under pressure, and wants to be part of a family-run team
General Duties
-Greet customers promptly, professionally, and engagingly
-Effectively process transactions using the POS system, including cash, credit, and debit payments, while demonstrating complete mastery of all functionalities, such as gift cards, exchanges/ refunds, etc
-Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
-Promote the café loyalty program
-Educate customers about our compost & recycling programs
-Strong understanding of the UPS Access Point and its various processes
-Responsible for selling tobacco products to customers of legal age upon successful completion of training
-Address customer inquiries and resolve issues with professionalism and care
-Support promotional efforts by providing information about products and services
-Help manage stock by monitoring inventory levels, restocking items, and removing expired products
-Rotate stock and discount aged items to help reduce wastage, recover value, and maintain profitability.
-Ensure products are presented neatly to enhance the overall store appearance
-Perform stock takes to maintain accurate stock data
-Conduct frequent store laps to address any areas needing attention (product placement, stock rotation, cleanliness, signage, and overall presentation)
-Keep all customer surfaces clean, including tables, the milk station, trash bins, and seating areas
-Accurately open and close the café for a smooth transition to the next/upcoming day
-Consistently maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance as outlined in the staff handbook
-Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service role is preferred
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage inventory and keep the store tidy
- Excellent customer service skills to provide a positive shopping experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Basic math skills for cash handling and price calculations
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with colleagues
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
