A* real estate and property development firm, is searching for a Buyer* to join our downtown Montreal team. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Director, you will manage the procurement of supplies and equipment for our development projects, with a primary focus on sourcing in China alongside local Canadian vendors.
Primary Responsibilities
- International & Local Sourcing: Identify and vet manufacturers in China and global markets, while also sourcing from local suppliers to ensure project needs are met efficiently.
- Quotations & Procurement: Obtain full quotations (RFQs) from potential suppliers for future projects. Prepare and review purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies in invoices or documentation.
- Negotiation: Conduct negotiations regarding pricing, quality, and delivery terms to identify cost-effective solutions.
- Manual Data Management: Maintain an impeccable manual database of suppliers and products. Because we operate without a formal ERP/MRP system, you are responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of your own tracking systems.
- Professional Documentation: Maintain a permanent, organized "paper trail" of all transactions and specifications through meticulous, threaded email communication.
- Market Research: Continuously research potential vendors and products to identify the best local and international solutions.
Qualifications
- Sourcing Expertise: Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role with a proven track record of extensive sourcing in China.
- Bilingualism: 100% Bilingual (French and English), written and spoken, is mandatory.
- Technical Proficiency: "Power user" of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel for complex data tracking and manual inventory management.
- Independent Execution: A self-directed professional who can work independently, multi-task, and perform under the pressure of high-volume international and local procurement cycles.
- Communication: Excellent negotiation and organizational skills with a focus on detail and precision.
