Mackenzie Personnel is hiring three Licensed Electricians for a well-established food manufacturing facility in Cambridge. One position per shift.
This is a high-speed production environment. You'll own the electrical side of the plant — preventative maintenance, troubleshooting under pressure, PLC work, and keeping downtime off the board. If you like being the person who gets the line running again, this is the seat.
What you'll do
- Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing and production equipment to minimize line downtime and protect product quality
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on high-speed production equipment
- Carry out PLC troubleshooting and programming changes as required
- Modify, maintain, and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical components and systems
- Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes
- Plan layout and installation of wiring, equipment, and fixtures to job spec and local code
- Read blueprints and prepare sketches to determine wiring and equipment locations
- Run conduit and pull wire/cable to complete circuits
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical systems
- Install or program hardware and instrumentation software in microprocessor-based systems
- Complete assigned work orders on the PM schedule and participate in continuous improvement projects
- Support equipment installations and modifications
- Advise management when continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
- Follow GMP, food safety, and food defence requirements while performing maintenance work
- Work safely and in compliance with all health and safety legislation and technical standards
What you need
- Valid Ontario electrical licence — 309A or 442A (Red Seal). This is required.
- PLC programming knowledge
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and workplace safety standards
- Confident with electrical and hand tools (wire strippers, voltmeter, etc.) and able to read electrical drawings and blueprints
- Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting ability
- Comfortable working at pace in a production environment
Working conditions
- Indoor plant environment; possible exposure to heat from ovens
- Work in close proximity to others
- Standing for most of the shift, with repetitive movement, bending, and twisting
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- PPE required: gloves, hairnets, beard nets, steel-toed safety boots
