A Day in the Life:
As an Automation Specialist Co-op Student, you will gain hands-on experience supporting industrial automation systems that keep our operations running efficiently and safely. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will assist with maintaining and improving control systems, troubleshooting issues, and supporting technology used across our facilities. This role provides valuable exposure to real-world automation environments and directly contributes to the reliability and performance of our operations.

Fall Work Term - Approximately 16 weeks
What You'll Be Doing:

Assist in developing, testing, and supporting automation solutions for facility control systems.

Support maintenance and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMI systems, and related automation technologies.

Help analyze system performance and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

Participate in the configuration, testing, and implementation of software and control system updates.

Assist with diagnosing and resolving automation system issues, escalating when required.

Work with maintenance teams and contractors during system installations and upgrades.

Support documentation of systems, processes, and project work.

Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by following health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Skills/Experience Requirements:

Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Basic understanding of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, or control systems is an asset.

Strong interest in industrial automation, systems integration, and technology.

Ability to analyze problems and think critically to support troubleshooting efforts.

Strong communication and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools; exposure to programming or automation software is an asset.

Valid driver’s license may be required.
