SportsCardiologyBC is seeking a motivated and clinically focused Clinical Exercise Physiologist to support the delivery of a supervised cardiac rehabilitation program in Vancouver.
The successful candidate will lead individual and group rehabilitation sessions, develop and update individualized exercise prescriptions, monitor participants’ responses to exercise, and contribute to a safe, supportive, and evidence-informed clinical environment.
This role is well suited to an early-career exercise professional who has a strong clinical foundation, works well as part of a multidisciplinary team, and is interested in developing their expertise in cardiac rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead supervised individual and group cardiac rehabilitation sessions.
· Develop individualized exercise prescriptions based on participant assessments, medical history, functional capacity, goals, and clinical recommendations.
· Review and update exercise prescriptions as participants progress through the program.
· Monitor heart rate, blood pressure, symptoms, perceived exertion, and other relevant responses before, during, and after exercise.
· Modify or discontinue exercise when clinically indicated and escalate concerns according to established protocols.
· Promote safe exercise technique, appropriate progression, and participant understanding of their exercise program.
· Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
· Communicate relevant participant updates, concerns, and progress to the Operations Director and other members of the clinical team.
· Work collaboratively with exercise professionals, administrative staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
· Follow program policies, emergency procedures, infection-control practices, and professional standards.
· Support participant education related to exercise, physical activity, recovery, and cardiovascular health.
· Assist with program administration, quality improvement, and the ongoing development of clinical processes.
· Train, support, and supervise students or volunteers when required.
· Contribute to a respectful, professional, and team-oriented workplace culture.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science, clinical exercise physiology, or a related field.
· Current certification as either:
ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP); or
CSEP Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP).
· Candidates who are currently registered as a BCAK Practicing Kinesiologist (BCAK-KIN) or certified as an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) and are actively working toward completing the clinical experience hours required for CEP certification will also be considered.
· Current CPR/BLS certification.
· Demonstrated knowledge of exercise testing, clinical exercise prescription, and cardiovascular responses to exercise.
· Ability to recognize abnormal signs and symptoms and respond appropriately.
· Ability to take and interpret relevant clinical measurements, including heart rate and blood pressure.
· Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and clinical documentation skills.
· Ability to work independently within established protocols while recognizing when consultation or escalation is required.
· Professional, reliable, and comfortable working with participants who have cardiovascular disease or other chronic health conditions.
· Eligibility to work in British Columbia.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in cardiac rehabilitation, clinical exercise testing, chronic-disease management, or a medically supervised exercise setting.
· Experience monitoring ECG, heart rate, blood pressure, symptoms, and perceived exertion during exercise.
· Experience providing exercise instruction to individuals and small groups.
· Previous experience training or supervising students or volunteers.

This is a full-time position involving the delivery of scheduled rehabilitation sessions in a clinical exercise environment. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate exercises, move exercise equipment, and remain active throughout scheduled sessions.
Some flexibility in scheduling may be required based on program needs.
