Job Summary:
The main object and purpose of this position consist in providing technical expertise and support for the production group, in the fields of instrumentation, control and analytical equipment, while promoting ALC’s quality and safety objectives.
Key responsibilities:
Provides Instrumentation & Control support consisting of troubleshooting and repairing or replacing all types of Instruments in an Air Separation Unit and Steam Methane Reformer as well as peripheral equipment throughout the plants. Investigates problems reported, and either directly resolves the issue or guides the appropriate resources to find solutions to problems encountered. Complete PM’s as required in computerized maintenance management system.
Document work performed in a computerized maintenance management system.
Assist with design of instrumentation related controls.
Maintain spare parts inventory for instrumentation and control systems.
Write standard work orders in the computerized maintenance management system.
Advises plant in equipment selection: Acquires and maintains knowledge of most recent technologies in the field of instrumentation, control and analytical equipment. Uses this knowledge to maintain equipment like: valves, transmitters, flow elements, analyzers, chromatographs, DCS systems, PLC systems, HMI interface systems, etc.
Sometimes is required to work with project teams to assist in loop checks and troubleshooting new equipment.
Operation of the site is 24/7 some off hour work is expected to facilitate repairs as quickly and safely as possible.
Shares information with plants: Reinforces the application of Air Liquide standards and procedures in plants. Uses different plants experience with different systems and equipment to share successful solutions with other plants.
Works on special projects: Participate in special projects as needed, initiated as part of Corporate or departmental objectives, and targeting safety, reliability or efficiency goals, in conjunction with production or project groups.
Quality/Safety: Actively promotes ALC safety and quality objectives. Knows and respects all procedures as indicated in the ALC Quality Manual. Makes sure the appropriate corrective and preventive measures are in place in order to answer customer complaints.
Process improvement: Works with his/her team as well as with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the work process. Continuously analyses the functioning of the activity, identifies causes of dysfunction and proposes corrective measures accordingly.
Required qualifications:
Industrial Instrument Mechanic Trade Certification ( 447A ) required
5 Years experience as an Instrumentation technician (Preferably in Continuous Production / Industrial Gas production plants)
Methodical diagnostic, calibration, repair, and PM on measurement instruments (pressure, temp, flow, level), gas analyzers, and chromatographs.
Proficiency in computerized instrumentation systems (PLC/DCS) and blueprint/P&ID reading.
