Job Summary
The Distribution Centre Order Selector is responsible for accurately and efficiently selecting, packing, and preparing customer orders for shipment within a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring customers receive correct, high-quality products in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
Order Selection
- Locate and retrieve items from warehouse shelves, racks, or storage bins based on order requirements.
Packing & Preparation
- Safely and securely pack items into appropriate containers or skids, ensuring proper labeling and protection for shipment.
Inventory Management
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and ensure products are stored in their correct locations.
Scanning & Documentation
- Use handheld scanners or warehouse management systems to track inventory movement and record order details.
Quality Control
- Verify order accuracy and inspect items for damage or defects prior to shipment.
Safety Compliance
- Follow all warehouse safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Team Collaboration
- Work independently and/or collaboratively with team members to meet daily productivity and accuracy targets.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience as an Order Selector or in a similar warehouse role
- Experience operating forklift and/or end rider equipment preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse workplace
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
- Ability to work in cold storage environments (as low as -25 degrees Celsius) with provided PPE
- Good manual dexterity and stamina for extended physical activity
- Average work schedule of approximately 40 hours per week
- Some positions require a forklift and/or rider-walkie experience
Compensation
At Chapman’s, compensation is guided by a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes and rewards individual contributions.
Wages
$24.75 per hour
- $1.00 per hour shift premium on the straight night shift
- $0.50 per hour shift premium on the straight afternoon shift
