Part-Time Custodian - The Lantern
Summary
The Lantern is a not-for-profit community centre that rents out six spaces (ranging from 300 sq ft to over 4,000 sq ft) for all types of community programs and events. The Part-Time Custodian plays an essential role at The Lantern, helping programs and events transition smoothly from one to the next. The position involves both breakdown and set-up of events (primarily moving tables and chairs), and general cleaning duties. It is a part-time position, offering from 12 hours (minimum) up to 20 hours per week, depending on our events schedule and operational needs. Shifts are typically 4-5 hours long and can occur anytime during the day, evening or overnight, including weekends. This position is part of a roster of Part-Time Custodians whose shift schedules are typically drawn up at least one week in advance.
General Duties
· Break down and clean up after events
· Set up tables/chairs/etc for upcoming events
· Clean floor surfaces (vacuuming, mopping, sweeping)
· Clean washrooms (sinks, surfaces, toilets)
· Garbage and recycling collection
Working Conditions
The Lantern is a former primary school with two floors. The Part-Time Custodian is required to navigate stairs while on duty, and heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) may be required. Working hours for the position vary and typically occur in 4-5hr shifts every day of the week, either daytime or overnight depending on availability.

Assets
· Custodial and/or commercial cleaning experience
Compensation & Benefits
· $17.50/hour
