Overview:
We’re looking for a passionate and driven Sous Chef (or experienced cook ready to step up) to join our kitchen team at Best Western Mountain Lodge. Working closely with our Executive Chef, you’ll be part of a fast-paced, supportive environment where your ideas, skills, and creativity truly matter.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead by example in delivering high-quality, consistent dishes for both café service and banquet events
- Support daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth, efficient service, even during busy periods
- Collaborate on menu development and creative features, bringing fresh ideas and current food trends to life
- Help manage food costs, reduce waste, and identify opportunities to improve profitability
- Assist with team scheduling, training, and supervision to maintain strong kitchen performance
- Uphold and enforce food safety, hygiene, and BC Health regulations
- Foster a positive, respectful team culture built on professionalism and accountability
- Step in wherever needed—this is a hands-on role with variety every day
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience in a busy kitchen environment (hotel or high-volume service preferred)
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an asset—or a strong desire to grow into one
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and multitasking under pressure
- Passion for food, creativity, and continuous learning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced setting
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends
