Job Overview/Purpose:
Welders permanently join metal parts by applying heat, using filler metal or fusion processes. They fabricate parts, build structures, and repair damaged or worn metal components.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Welding: Joining metal pieces using various welding processes and techniques.
Reading Blueprints: Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to understand project requirements.
Setting Up Equipment: Preparing and setting up welding equipment, including torches, welding machines, and related tools.
Cutting and Shaping: Using tools like torches, shears, and brakes to cut and shape metal as needed.
Quality Control: Inspecting welds for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards.
Maintenance: Performing basic maintenance and repair on welding equipment.
Safety: Following safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Fabrication: Assembling metal components into larger structures.
Repairing: Fixing damaged metal parts by welding or other methods
