Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, safety-driven Heavy Equipment Trainer to provide hands-on training and mentorship for operators on Rock Truck, Dozer, Grader, Excavator, and Haul Truck. The successful candidate will have practical, demonstrated operating experience on all listed equipment and the ability to lead, coach, and mentor operators in an active site environment.
In addition to field-based training, the candidate must be technically proficient and capable of developing, updating, and managing training programs. This includes the ability to create new training documents, procedures, assessments, and supporting materials. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate operational requirements into clear, structured training content are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver equipment training for Rock Truck, Dozer, Grader, Excavator, and Haul Truck
- Build training program
- Create new documents and training procedures
- Assess operator competency and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site
- Ensure training meets company policies, site standards, and regulatory requirements
- Complete required training documentation and online orientations
- Work collaboratively with site supervision and safety teams
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Hands-on operating experience with all of the following equipment:
- Rock Truck
- Dozer
- Grader
- Excavator
- Haul Truck
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a 5-year driver’s abstract meeting insurance requirements
- Self-motivated, flexible, and proactive in a fast-paced work environment
- On-site experience is considered an asset
- Positive attitude and willingness to take direction from supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to a strong safety culture
- Basic computer skills for completing online orientations and training records
- Ability to pass pre-employment Alcohol & Drug (A&D) testing

- CSO, BSO, or OSSA Regional
- Energy Safety Canada- H2S Awareness or H2S Alive
- Field Ergonomics
- Energy Safety Canada – Silica Awareness
- Energy Safety Canada – Wildlife Awareness
- Energy Safety Canada – Wood Buffalo Wildlife Intermediate
- Energy Safety Canada – OHS Alberta Legislation
