Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will support the firm’s financial operations by managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining accurate bookkeeping records, and ensuring seamless data entry. Your expertise with various accounting software will help keep our financial processes efficient and compliant. Duties
- Assist with daily accounting tasks using trust accounting software
- Assist with accounts payable by reviewing bills, preparing invoices and reconciling vendor statements
- Assist with accounts receivable tasks including tracking Accounts Receivables and payments
- Assist with month and year documentation
- Perform data entry for financial transactions with accuracy and attention to detail
- Assist with bank deposits and match supporting documentation
- Ensure required Trust Accounting rules are followed.
- Maintain and organize detailed record keeping
- Flag discrepancies or compliance exceptions immediately to management.
Qualifications
- Should have a recognized diploma or a certification in Bookkeeping/Accounting
- Must be familiar with QuickBooks
- Familiarity with Legal Accounting software will be an asset.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes
- Basic understanding of Law Society of Alberta trust accounting rules is an asset
- Proficient with MS Office Suite particularly Excel
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
- High degree of accuracy, strong attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and solid organizational skills.
- Basic math skills combined with a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles
- Has a strong command of English
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and vendors
- Be able to handle document boxes up to 40lbs in weight
