Assistant / Apprentice Pastry Chef – The Ivy
The Ivy is a teahouse, bakery, and café built around elevated yet approachable experiences, from fresh morning pastries and artisan breads to elegant afternoon tea and beautifully crafted desserts.
We're looking for an Assistant / Apprentice Pastry Chef to join our pastry team.
Working directly with our Pastry Chef, you'll gain hands-on experience in a professional pastry kitchen while helping create the exceptional baked goods and desserts our guests have come to love. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to develop their skills, learn new techniques, and grow their career in pastry.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assisting with the preparation of pastries, cakes, desserts, breads, and baked goods
- Following recipes with consistency and attention to detail
- Supporting daily pastry production and service preparation
- Assisting with decorating cakes, desserts, and seasonal features
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen
- Helping with inventory, ingredient preparation, and receiving deliveries
- Learning production planning and efficient kitchen organization
- Contributing ideas while continuing to develop your pastry skills
What We're Looking For
- Culinary or pastry school education, or currently enrolled in an apprenticeship (preferred but not required)
- Previous bakery or pastry experience is an asset but not essential
- A genuine passion for baking and pastry arts
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and accept feedback
- Reliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic
- A desire to build a long-term career in pastry and hospitality
