The Visitor Experience Ambassador is at the heart of the Studio Bell experience, creating meaningful, memorable, and welcoming interactions for all who engage with the National Music Centre. As a front-line representative of Studio Bell, this role helps bring the stories, sounds, and cultural impact of music in Canada to life through outstanding hospitality, audience engagement, and guest service.
Reporting to the Manager of Visitor Experience, the Visitor Experience Ambassador welcomes and supports a diverse range of guests, including museum visitors, members, artists, performers, donors, volunteers, community partners, event attendees, school groups, and tour groups. Through engaging conversations, thoughtful recommendations, and knowledgeable interpretation of exhibits and programs, this role helps foster curiosity, discovery, and connection throughout Studio Bell.
As part of delivering an end-to-end visitor experience, the Visitor Experience Ambassador supports admissions, memberships, ticket sales, and occasionally café and gift shop operations. This role helps ensure guests enjoy a seamless and welcoming experience across all visitor touchpoints by providing information, facilitating transactions, offering personalized recommendations, and maintaining a high standard of service throughout Studio Bell.
The successful candidate is an enthusiastic communicator who enjoys working with people from all backgrounds and creating inclusive, inspiring experiences. While supporting admissions, memberships, ticket sales, and operations as required, the primary focus of this role is ensuring every guest feels welcomed, informed, and connected to the National Music Centre's mission and offerings.

Audience Engagement and Guest Experience

Admissions, Retail, Café, and Front-of-House Support

Assist guests with admissions, membership purchases, and ticket sales through point-of-sale and online systems.

Promote NMC Memberships by communicating the value and benefits of membership.

Occasionally support daily operations of the National Music Centre Gift Shop and Cafe while delivering exceptional customer service.

Respond to guest inquiries in person, by phone, and by email.

Support guest registration, check-in, and audience services for events and programs.

Communicate knowledgeably about upcoming programs, performances, exhibitions, retail offerings, and café services at Studio Bell.

Maintain awareness of programming, services, amenities, retail products, and café offerings to provide accurate and timely information.

Promote and recommend retail merchandise, memberships, programs, and other visitor offerings that enhance guest engagement.

Support operational readiness of visitor-facing spaces.

Provide operational coverage across admissions, retail, and café areas to ensure a seamless guest experience during daily operations, peak periods, and special events.
Operational Excellence

Follow all health, safety, security, and operational procedures to support a safe and enjoyable experience for guests and staff.

Handle cash, admissions, and point-of-sale transactions accurately and responsibly.

Support opening and closing procedures as required.

Complete required training and maintain proficiency across admissions, retail, café, and visitor experience functions.

Follow cash handling, health, safety, and operational standards applicable to café and retail operations.

Collaborate with colleagues across departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Support cross-functional coverage across visitor experience areas to ensure service continuity and operational excellence.

Previous experience in customer service, retail and/or hospitality is an asset

Previous Box Office experience is an asset

Knowledge and comfort with POS and computer systems

This part-time position offers a flexible schedule with hours ranging between 4–40 hours per week at a rate of $16.00 per hour.
