The Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health in the Faculty of Nursing invites applications for sessional faculty members to teach within the Perioperative Nursing Certificate for Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses.
The Faculty of Nursing delivers excellent nursing education across four academic Departments and collectively offers various credentials including a Certificate in Perioperative Nursing for Registered Nurses and Licensed Practice Nurses. The Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health provides students, nurses, and healthcare professionals with innovative learning opportunities designed to expand knowledge and increase expertise. Courses and programs in this department emphasize specific areas of continued learning, which are aligned with dynamic health care environments and responsive to health care education needs.
For this specific opportunity you may teach across perioperative specific lecture, lab and clinical courses. Opportunities to teach other courses may also be available and travel may be required. Successful candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, a student-centered approach to learning, and a strong understanding of perioperative nursing practice.
You must have a baccalaureate nursing degree (Master’s preferred) with strong perioperative nursing experience and certification or formal education specific to perioperative practice (e.g. ORNAC certification). You will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and continuing education. Previous teaching experience is an asset.
Applicants must have unencumbered licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) as well as meet the Requisite Skills and Abilities of the profession.
