About Heartwood
Heartwood Furniture Group is a Canadian office and institutional furniture manufacturer and distributor, founded in 1985 in BC’s Okanagan Valley and headquartered in Kelowna, BC. We serve customers coast-to-coast through an established dealer network, combining in-stock, quick-ship programs with made-to-order manufacturing to deliver quality products with professional service on fast lead times.
Heartwood is part of the Mycroft group of companies and is entering its next phase of growth, with a clear opportunity to expand our presence and influence across Eastern Canada.
The Role
Heartwood is seeking a Director, Business Development to lead growth across Ontario and Eastern Canada by creating demand, winning projects, and expanding Heartwood’s influence earlier in the specification process.
This is a hands‑on sales leadership role for a proven sales hunter who thrives in project‑based, relationship‑driven environments and is energized by working closely with architects, designers, specifiers and dealer partners to deliver complete furniture solutions.
Success in this role will be defined by new project wins, deeper market penetration, and stronger pull‑through demand—not by desk time or administrative oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business across Central and Eastern Canada, with a strong personal focus on identifying, developing and closing project opportunities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with architects, interior designers, and specifiers, influencing furniture decisions early in the design and planning process
- Collaborate closely with Heartwood’s dealer partners to package and win total project solutions, from initial concept through final installation
- Position Heartwood’s full product offering—in‑stock and made‑to‑order—to meet a wide range of project requirements, budgets, and timelines
- Represent Heartwood in the market as a knowledgeable, credible presence within the A&D and dealer communities
- Work collaboratively with internal teams (sales, marketing, customer service, design support, operations) to ensure an exceptional customer and dealer experience
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a proven sales hunter and relationship builder with:
- Proven experience in project‑based, specification‑driven B2B selling, ideally within office furniture, interiors, building products, or a related sector
- Demonstrated success working with architects, designers, specifiers, and dealers to influence and win complex projects
- High personal drive, commercial instincts, and comfort operating autonomously in a growth‑oriented environment
- A collaborative mindset, balancing independence in the field with strong internal teamwork
- Willingness to travel regularly as needed across Canada
Formal people‑management experience is less critical than the ability to create momentum, open doors, and win business.
Why Heartwood
- A respected Canadian brand with national dealer reach and a compelling offering spanning in-stock and made-to-order solutions.
- Ownership-backed business with a long‑term growth mindset
- Opportunity for meaningful impact, visibility, and long-term career progression
