About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Press Brake Operator to set up, program, and operate CNC press brakes in a high-mix, production-oriented metal fabrication environment. The ideal candidate is capable of independently completing complex setups, troubleshooting bend issues, and maintaining tight quality tolerances with minimal supervision.
This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, tooling knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently across a wide variety of parts and materials.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Setup
- Set up and operate CNC press brakes (e.g., Accurpress or equivalent)
- Interpret engineering drawings, bend notes, and flat patterns
- Select appropriate tooling (punches, V-dies, specialty tools)
- Perform complete setups including crowning and back gauge configuration
- Calculate tonnage requirements and verify machine capacity
- Perform first-piece verification and adjust offsets as required
- Optimize bend sequence to avoid collisions and distortion
- Run production efficiently while maintaining quality standards
Programming & Adjustments
- Load, edit, and optimize CNC programs
- Adjust bend allowances, spring back compensation, and back gauge positions
- Make angle corrections and document program changes
- Troubleshoot alarms and minor machine issues
- Support continuous improvement of setup times and repeatability
Quality & Inspection
- Conduct first-article inspections
- Verify dimensional and angular tolerances
- Maintain documentation of inspection results
- Identify and segregate non-conforming parts
- Work closely with engineering and quality teams on corrective actions
Safety & Maintenance
- Follow all shop safety procedures
- Ensure safe material handling practices
- Perform daily machine inspections and basic operator-level maintenance
- Maintain clean and organized work area
Qualifications
Required
- 3–7+ years of press brake experience
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T understanding
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume production
- Solid understanding of air bending principles
- Ability to independently complete complex setups
- Comfortable lifting and handling large sheet metal components
Preferred
- Experience with CNC controls (ETS200 Siemens) preferred
- Knowledge of material behavior (mild steel, stainless, AR, aluminum)
- Experience training junior operators
- Forklift and overhead crane certification
