About the Role
Both Eyes Open Photography has been awarded the Yukon School Photography contract, and we're hiring a Studio/Office Assistant to help us deliver high-quality portraits to students across the territory. You'll be the operational backbone of our peak season — supporting photographers on location, keeping the studio running, and making sure every order gets to the right family.
No photography experience required but is an asset. We'll train you on everything specific to our workflow. There are two positions require, one is a temporary 3 month position.
Compensation & Schedule
- $20–$25.00/hour, depending on experience, driver's license class, and prior experience working with children or in a customer-facing role.
- Approximately 30–40 hours per week, with some variation around school photoshoot days.
- This is a contract position to start.
- Must have own transportation
Who You'll Work With
You'll report directly to the studio owner and work closely with one to two photographers. You will never be alone with a student — our two-adult policy applies at all times during photoshoots.
What You'll Do
On location and in the studio set up and pack down equipment, direct students to the portrait area, manage the intake of order envelopes, scan student ID cards, and handle on-location payments. You'll help students feel comfortable in front of the camera and make small adjustments to collars, ties, and graduation gowns as needed — always with the student's permission, and always in view of another adult. You will not touch a student's face, hair, or skin.
In the office, enter order information accurately, upload images to our e-commerce site, respond to parent emails and calls, process payments, print and organize school materials, schedule shoots for our photographers, do quality control on finished packages, and manage shipping and deliveries.
Physical requirements Lift up to 25 lbs independently and assist with items up to 80 lbs, occasionally throughout the day.
What You Need
- Reside in Whitehorse or surrounding area (this role cannot be done remotely).
- Valid Class 5 Yukon driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check before your start date (we'll reimburse the cost).
- Signed confidentiality agreement — you'll be handling student names, school information, and parent payment data under PIPEDA.
- Comfortable working with children and their parents in a busy environment.
- Basic computer skills (email, web-based tools, data entry).
Nice to Have
Prior experience in customer service, retail, school settings, or childcare. Strong attention to detail. Comfortable working independently once trained.

Strong performers may be invited back for the spring grad season.
