Qualifications – Ontario Healthcare Facility
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Previous leadership experience in a Long-Term Care setting (required)
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the last 6 months
- Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care requirements and the Fixing Long-Term Care Act
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: 3-month assignment with possibility of extension
- Must be eligible to work as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Ontario
- Hours: Full-time
Responsibilities:
Directors of Care are required to adhere to the scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for nursing services within the Long-Term Care home
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality resident care
- Support compliance with the Ministry of Long-Term Care standards, legislation, and organizational policies
- Oversee clinical documentation, quality improvement initiatives, and resident care planning
- Mentor, supervise, and support nursing staff while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Note: Duties may vary slightly based on facility and organizational needs, with specific guidance provided during site orientation.
Experience:
- Previous leadership experience in a Long-Term Care setting (required)
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is an asset
- Thorough understanding of the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care standards and the Fixing Long-Term Care Act
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
- Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and decision-making skills
