We are looking for an energetic and dynamic individual with experience in patient-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-based care to fill the position of Social Worker II and join our multidisciplinary Mental Health and Addiction team. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, in a collaborative way, to improve treatment and support access for addiction and mental health clients who are leaving provincial corrections facilities and transitioning to the community. The Social Worker II is responsible for the intake, clinical interviews, short term crisis intervention, when indicated, and screening of clients the addiction and mental health disorders. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you work confidently, independently, and within collaborative partnerships to facilitate service and treatment connections resulting in optimal client outcomes. You have knowledge of the criminal justice system, mental health and addiction services, resources within Recovery Alberta and community stakeholders in the South Zone. Your excellent interpersonal skills support your ability to work effectively across a continuum of services. You can balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, accurately collect, and document information in a timely manner. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with strong organizational skills and have a demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, and the ability to create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
3-5 years of recent experience in the addiction and mental health field. Community outreach and crisis intervention experience. Knowledge of mental health/mental illness across populations and mental health diagnoses. Knowledge of addiction treatment and recovery across populations. Knowledge of the mental health system and resources within Recovery Alberta. Strong assessment and intervention skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the continuum of services is essential. Ability to work confidently, independently and within collaborative partnerships is essential. Ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities required. Ability to thoroughly and accurately collect and document information in a timely manner is required. Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Information Act and CTO legislation. Non-violent crisis intervention. Valid driver's license. Current BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the criminal justice system/arrest and detention processes. Working knowledge and practical experience working within Forensic and/or Correctional systems. Solid understanding of correctional facilities and populations served.
