Position Title: Finance Manager
Position Summary: Reports to the Director of Finance to manage day-to-day financial operations and lead the accounting team. This role focuses on maintaining robust internal controls, ensuring accurate balance sheet reconciliations, managing cash flow, and overseeing capital expenditures to uphold financial reporting integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Implement, document, and maintain internal controls across all accounting functions; conduct periodic assessments and fix identified gaps.
- Enforce segregation of duties, company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Month-End Close & Reconciliations
- Own the monthly close process, including preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations (bank accounts, inter-company, accruals, prepaids, and general ledger).
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items quickly; escalate material variances to the Director of Finance.
- Partner with the Director of Finance to report monthly financial results and deliver variance analysis against budgets and prior periods.
Cash Management
- Manage daily cash positioning and build weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor working capital (AR, AP, and inventory) and recommend actions to optimize cash position.
Capital Expenditures (CapEx)
- Manage the end-to-end CapEx process, including preparing authorization requests, tracking project costs against budgets, and running post-completion reviews.
- Maintain the CapEx register and ensure timely capitalization of completed projects in the fixed asset register.
- Partner with operations to conduct feasibility studies and evaluate capital investment proposals for plant improvements and cost-reduction initiatives.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Support the preparation of the monthly management reporting package and help leadership develop action plans to close performance gaps.
- Coordinate the external audit process and liaise with auditors for timely completion.
- Manage the timely preparation and filing of regulatory returns (HST, StatsCan, etc.).
Team Leadership & Budgeting
- Direct the daily work of the accounting team across general ledger, AP, AR, and cost accounting.
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting process for plant manufacturing, maintenance, and overhead costs; communicate key assumptions to the plant leadership team.
- Translate strategic direction into actionable financial plans for the manufacturing plant alongside the Director of Finance.
- Maintain ERP/manufacturing software proficiency and drive continuous improvement of financial processes and tools.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred.
- Experience: 6–8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience; experience in a manufacturing environment is a strong asset.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; hands-on experience with an ERP or manufacturing accounting system is required.
- Assets: Experience with process automation, Power BI, and AI integration.
- Core Skills: Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Pay: $120,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
