BLUBC Education Consulting is seeking an experienced U.S. Top 30 University Planning & Admissions Consultant to join our growing academic consulting team.
Education Requirement: Applicants must have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree from a U.S. Top 20 university. Due to the expectations of the students and families we serve, this is a mandatory requirement for this position.
For more than 10 years, BLUBC has specialized in academic planning, university admissions consulting, tutoring, and student mentorship. We have helped students gain admission to many of the world's leading universities, including Ivy League schools and other highly selective institutions in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong.
We have two Vancouver locations: one on the UBC campus and another in Vancouver West.
We are looking for a knowledgeable, responsible, and student-centered consultant who is passionate about helping students achieve admission to U.S. Top 30 universities through personalized academic planning, extracurricular development, application strategy, and long-term mentorship.
The ideal candidate has at least one year of direct experience in U.S. university admissions consulting, has successfully guided students applying to highly selective U.S. universities, and understands every stage of the admissions process.
Candidates with three or more years of experience, exceptional admission results, and demonstrated success helping students gain admission to U.S. Top 30 universities will be given strong preference.

Key Responsibilities
- Academic Planning: Develop personalized long-term academic plans for students in Grades 8–12 based on their academic profile, interests, intended major, and university goals.
- University Strategy: Develop individualized application strategies for students applying to U.S. Top 30 universities, including Ivy League institutions.
- Course Planning: Advise students on academic course selection, GPA improvement strategies, AP/IB planning, and standardized testing timelines.
- Extracurricular Planning: Guide students in selecting meaningful extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, competitions, research, internships, volunteer work, and summer programs.
- Application Management: Guide students through every stage of the university application process, including university selection, Common App preparation, activity lists, recommendation planning, personal statements, supplemental essays, interview preparation, and final application review.
- Essay Coaching: Review and provide strategic feedback on personal statements, supplemental essays, activity descriptions, resumes, and other application materials.
- Student Mentorship: Meet regularly with students to monitor progress, establish milestones, assign action plans, and keep applications on schedule.
- Parent Communication: Maintain proactive communication with students and parents throughout the planning and application process.
- Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed planning records, meeting notes, application timelines, and student progress reports.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with tutors, education consultants, and the BLUBC management team to provide coordinated support.
- Professional Development: Stay current with U.S. university admissions trends, policy changes, testing updates, and best practices.
- Community Engagement: Conduct parent seminars, student workshops, webinars, and educational presentations when required.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree from a U.S. Top 20 university (required).
- Professional Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in U.S. university admissions consulting, academic planning, college counseling, or a closely related field.
- Admissions Experience: Demonstrated experience advising students applying to U.S. Top 30 universities.
- Planning Expertise: Experience developing personalized academic, extracurricular, and university planning strategies for high school students.
- Application Knowledge: Strong understanding of holistic admissions, Common App, supplemental applications, recommendation strategies, interview preparation, and university admissions timelines.
- Essay Coaching: Experience reviewing and editing personal statements, supplemental essays, and other university application materials.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Organization: Strong organizational, documentation, project management, and time-management skills.
- Professionalism: High level of professionalism, accountability, discretion, and commitment to student success.
- Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Admission Results: Demonstrated success helping students gain admission to Ivy League universities and other U.S. Top 30 institutions.
- Student Advising: Experience providing long-term academic planning and admissions guidance for students in Grades 8–12.
- Academic Planning: Experience advising students on SAT, ACT, AP, and/or IB course planning and standardized testing strategies.
- International Education: Experience working with international students and families pursuing highly selective U.S. university admissions.
- Industry Experience: Three or more years of experience in university admissions consulting or college counseling.
- Presentation Skills: Comfortable leading parent seminars, student workshops, webinars, and marketing presentations.
- Language Skills: Fluency in Mandarin is considered a strong asset due to the needs of many of the families we serve.
- Additional Expertise: Familiarity with Canadian, U.K., or Hong Kong university admissions is considered an asset.
