About the Role
Kingstec Campus Learning Centre is seeking a motivated, responsible, and confident Cook to join our licensed child care community.
At our Centre, we believe nutrition plays a vital role in the healthy growth and development of young children. Our Cook is not simply preparing meals — they are contributing to children’s well-being, comfort, and daily experience.
Each day, you will prepare:
- Two nutritious snacks
- One wholesome lunch
- For approximately 50 children and staff
All meals must meet the Standards for Food and Nutrition in Regulated Child Care Settings and reflect an understanding of children’s nutritional needs.
We prioritize:
- Quality ingredients
- Local sourcing of produce and protein whenever possible
- Safe and sanitary food preparation practices
- Thoughtful attention to dietary restrictions and allergies

The warm smells coming from the kitchen in the morning often provide comfort to families during drop-off and create a welcoming atmosphere. The kitchen environment is considered an extension of our early learning curriculum, and we value a Cook who understands their contribution to children’s sense of belonging and well-being.
This role includes:
- Daily kitchen cleaning and sanitizing
- Dishwashing
- Cleaning select classroom materials as needed
- Monitoring and maintaining food inventory
- Working independently while meeting daily timelines
- Standing for extended periods and lifting as required
Qualifications & Requirements
We are looking for someone who brings both skill and heart to the role.
Required:
- Current Food Handlers Certificate
- Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector)
- Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
Assets & Experience:
- Kitchen training and experience
- Experience cooking and baking for large groups
- Knowledge of children’s nutritional needs
- Strong understanding of food allergies, including anaphylaxis
Personal Qualities:
- Self-motivated and organized
- Flexible and team-oriented
- Able to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and suppliers
- Takes pride in maintaining high hygiene and sanitation standards
Job Type: Permanent
