Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our team in Mississauga, ON. This is a full-time, on-site position responsible for producing accurate, code-compliant architectural drawings for a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting projects from the initial design phase through permit approval. Working closely with the Project Designer Lead, Junior Designers, and Technologists, you will help ensure drawing packages are completed efficiently while maintaining compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and municipal requirements. This position requires exceptional drafting skills, strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, elevations, and sections using CAD/BIM software
- Ensure all drawings comply with the Ontario Building Code (OBC), municipal bylaws, and applicable zoning and permit requirements
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing team members to integrate multidisciplinary designs into a single coherent set
- Work with the Project Designer Lead and Junior Designers to align drafting output with project schedules
- Review and redline drawings for accuracy, dimensional consistency, and code compliance prior to submission
- Liaise with municipal authorities during permit review and respond to plan examiner comments and revisions
- Maintain organized drawing sets, revision logs, and project documentation
- Mentor junior drafters and designers on drafting standards, conventions, and best practices
- Conduct or support site measurements and verification for renovation and as-built projects
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in architectural drafting, ideally within a design or engineering firm
- Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and municipal permit/zoning requirements
- Proven ability to coordinate drawing work across multiple team members and disciplines (designers, engineers, technologists)
- High proficiency in AutoCAD and/or BIM workflow experience an asset
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Drafting, or a related field
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills for coordinating internally and with external stakeholders/authorities
- Ability to manage multiple drawing sets and projects concurrently under deadline pressure
