Penalta Group Ltd. is an Oakville-based general contractor with over 27 years of experience delivering commercial, institutional, and industrial construction projects across the GTA. We are a lean, hands-on team of approximately 50 people who take our work seriously and hold ourselves to a high standard on every project we take on.
We are growing our industrial and ICI capabilities and are looking for a Site Superintendent who brings the experience and the drive to help us get there.
THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Site Superintendent to join our team on a permanent basis. You will take full ownership of site operations across our industrial and ICI project portfolio, working directly alongside our project management team to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality and safety.
This is a hands-on, site-based role. You will be the lead presence on-site, the main point of contact for subtrades, and the person who sets the tone for how the project runs.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Own the full day-to-day operation of the construction site from mobilization through substantial completion
- Lead and coordinate all subtrades across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and envelope scopes
- Manage site sequencing and scheduling; develop and maintain look-ahead schedules and participate in pull planning
- Run trade foreman meetings and keep all parties aligned on priorities, sequencing, and expectations
- Maintain full oversight of safety, quality control, and site documentation throughout all phases
- Conduct daily site reports, toolbox talks, site inspections, and hazard assessments
- Liaise with the PM team, owners, consultants, engineers, and municipal inspectors
- Manage on-site logistics including equipment, material deliveries, laydown areas, and site access
- Identify issues early and bring solutions to the team before they affect cost or schedule
- Enforce Penalta’s safety program and all OHSA requirements on-site at all times
- Support project closeout including deficiency tracking, inspections, and handover documentation
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Experience & Background
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Site Superintendent on civil-intensive construction projects in Ontario
- Proven experience on large-format industrial, warehouse, or distribution centre construction (250,000 sq. ft. and above) is a strong asset
- Solid foundation in earthworks, underground servicing, concrete, structural steel, and full building sequencing from early site works through completion
- Experience managing multiple subtrades simultaneously on complex, active construction sites
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and take full ownership of site operations
- Comfortable working across a variety of project types and sectors within the ICI space
- Proficient in Procore or equivalent construction management software for reporting, RFIs, and deficiency tracking
- Ability to read and interpret structural, civil, mechanical, and architectural drawings
- Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and OHSA requirements
- Valid Working at Heights certification required; additional safety credentials are an asset
- Experience with Bluebeam, MS Office, or other field tools is an asset
