Overview
The Pederson Group has partnered with your client, a Winnipeg-based construction company, to conduct a search for a Business Development Manager to join their Pre-Construction team.
Reporting to the Pre-Construction Director, the Business Development Manager is the first person a new client meets. This is not a hard-sell sales job. It’s a service-first role for someone who wins work by being helpful, guiding clients through early design ideas, budgets and project feasibility, and building lasting relationships with local business owners.
Responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact for new clients, guiding them through early design ideas, budgets and project feasibility.
- Offer helpful, high-level design suggestions up front that balance look, function and value.
- Build a steady stream of new leads through outreach, industry partnerships and community involvement.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with local business owners, partners and stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Design and Estimating teams to turn client ideas into competitive, buildable proposals.
- Manage the sales pipeline with a consultative approach: qualifying, guiding and following up with clients.
- Present budgets, proposals and work authorizations, and keep clients informed through the pre-construction phase.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows and networking functions.
- Conduct market research to stay on top of industry trends, pricing and competitor activity.
- Develop and manage the annual budget for marketing, advertising, sponsorships and community donations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in sales or business development, ideally high-value B2B work within the construction, architecture or engineering sectors.
- Post-secondary education in business, construction management, marketing or a related field is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of construction assemblies, building codes and the design-build process.
- A strong local network, with the ability to get our clients' name in front of local businesses and operators.
- The ability to offer smart, high-level design suggestions early in a project.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to uncover unspoken client needs.
- High emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate different personalities and stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with experience using CRM software considered an asset.
- A service-first approach that puts long-term client success ahead of short-term sales targets.Valid Class 5 driver’s license with the ability to travel locally to meet clients and visit project sites.
Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
