Lange & Fetter Motors is growing, and we're excited to be adding another Controller to our accounting team!
As our dealership continues to expand, we're looking for an experienced Controller to help oversee our financial operations, ensure accurate accounting and reporting, maintain regulatory compliance, and provide valuable financial insights that support our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee all dealership accounting operations.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with dealership and manufacturer deadlines.
- Review and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and opportunities.
- Produce monthly financial reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Monitor departmental profitability.
- Review operating expenses and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
Accounting Operations
- Manage the general ledger and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Manage vehicle inventory accounting and floorplan reconciliations.
- Ensure proper accounting for vehicle sales, service, parts, and finance activities.
- Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable accounting standards.
- Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax regulations.
- Develop and maintain strong internal financial controls.
Payroll & Human Resources Support
- Process payroll and payroll accounting.
- Ensure accurate commission calculations for sales staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee financial information.
Banking & Cash Management
- Manage dealership cash flow.
- Review cash receipts and disbursements.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management reports.
- Analyze gross profit, expenses, and departmental performance.
- Monitor key dealership financial metrics.
- Present financial information to ownership and senior management.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of accounting experience preferred.
- Previous automotive dealership accounting experience is considered an asset.
- Experience using dealership management systems such as PBS, CDK, or Reynolds & Reynolds is considered an asset.
