Job Summary
The Maintenance Projects Manager is responsible for carrying out, coordinating, and completing strategic, regulatory, safety, quality, infrastructure, and process-improvement projects within the Maintenance Department.
The position provides dedicated oversight and direct support for projects that require sustained attention, hands-on completion of assigned work, coordination between multiple departments, formal implementation, and documented follow-up.
The Maintenance Projects Manager works under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and carries out or supports assigned projects from initial planning through implementation, verification, and closeout.
Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications
The Maintenance Projects Manager will:
- Carry out and develop project scopes, timelines, milestones, responsibilities, and completion requirements;
- Maintain a centralized register of active maintenance projects, assigned actions, deadlines, and project status;
- Develop, carry out or coordinate Quality Assurance corrective action plans and ensure approved actions are implemented and documented;
- Develop, carry out or coordinate maintenance-related Safety Management System projects, corrective actions, and risk-control initiatives;
- Carry out or support regulatory compliance projects, policy revisions, and procedure implementation;
- Carry out or support reliability and fleet-improvement initiatives assigned by the Director of Maintenance;
- Carry out or coordinate facility, tooling, equipment, infrastructure, and base-improvement projects;
- Arrange and lead project meetings, carry out assigned action items, maintain action lists, and follow up with responsible personnel;
- Carry out or coordinate project requirements with affected departments, managers, employees, vendors, and contractors;
- Identify and address project risks, delays, resource shortages, and decisions requiring management attention;
- Prepare and deliver project status reports for the Director of Maintenance and senior management;
- Create, organize, and retain project records, approvals, correspondence, training records, and implementation evidence;
- Develop executive summaries for proposed projects, including evidence based cost/savings projections, stakeholder impacts, along with detailed projected improvements to the company and its customers.
- Carry out or verify that completed projects have been communicated, implemented, and reviewed for effectiveness; and
- Carry out other related duties and special projects assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
Initial Areas of Responsibility
Initial assignments may include carrying out or coordinating:
- Outstanding Quality Assurance corrective action plans and tasks;
- Outstanding Safety Management System actions and tasks;
- Base and facility improvement projects;
- Process standardization between bases;
- Audit recommendation implementation;
- Infrastructure, equipment, and tooling initiatives;
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess:
- Other special projects assigned by maintenance leadership.
- Experience in aircraft maintenance, aviation operations, technical services, Quality Assurance, Safety Management, or project coordination;
- Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills;
- The ability to personally carry out project work while managing multiple projects and deadlines;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- The ability to carry out and coordinate work across multiple departments and locations;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Forms, and related systems;
- Sound judgement and the ability to identify, address, and escalate risks;
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively; and
- The ability to travel to Company bases by air as required.
- Ability to pass a criminal record check and obtain an airport restricted area pass.
- An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license, project-management training, aviation management experience, and knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations would be considered assets.
- The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset.
- Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.

Working Conditions
The position is primarily office-based but requires regular interaction with maintenance facilities, aircraft, equipment, and operational personnel.
The employee will be required to:
- Travel to Company operating bases;
- Attend meetings outside normal working hours;
- Work under changing priorities and operational deadlines;
- Work in active maintenance and airport environments;
- Wear required personal protective equipment;
- Personally carry out assigned project work in office, hangar, base, and operational environments as required; and
- Respond to urgent regulatory, safety, quality, or project requirements.
- This position may require occasional work outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, to support operational requirements, urgent maintenance needs, project deadlines, or other departmental priorities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift or move up to 50lbs.
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
