POSITION OVERVIEW: Nestled on the south shore of Lesser Slave Lake, Driftpile Cree Nation (DCN) is a proud and vibrant community located approximately 340 km northwest of Edmonton. Dedicated to continuous growth through land and infrastructure development, DCN is seeking a Consultation Administration Assistant to provide strategic leadership for the Consultation and Lands Department. Reporting directly to the Land Manager, this full-time role ensures organizational excellence by balancing high-level financial stewardship including budget oversight and contract negotiation with the seamless management of daily operations, logistics, and facility safety.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Oversight: Manage consultation budgets and prepare monthly/quarterly expense and income statements. Handle all accounts receivable/payable, track proponent payments, and manage Participant Funding Program (PFP) expenditures.

Contract & Agreement Management: Negotiate and maintain service level agreements with third-party providers. Oversee proponent agreements and ensure all parameters are executed in coordination with the Director.

Logistics & Field Support: Coordinate site visits using environmental monitor rotation lists and manage daily rate payouts. Arrange economical travel for business trips, site visits, and TLU (Traditional Land Use) work.

Office Operations: Manage inbound/outbound correspondence, answer inquiries, and maintain office inventory. Record and archive meeting minutes and assist in the daily upkeep and security (keys/alarm codes) of the Consultation building.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure facilities meet all local fire codes and safety regulations. Act as the point of contact for federal safety standards and organizational security policies.

Technical Assistance: Facilitate data input for Site Visits and TK/TLU studies via GIS (training provided).
QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: Degree/diploma in Office Administration (or equivalent experience) plus 2+ years of direct office administration experience.

Accounting & Software: Proficient in accounting procedures (procurement/budgeting), Microsoft Office Suite, and specialized accounting software.

Soft Skills: Superior interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with the executive team and external stakeholders; strong analytical and meticulous record-keeping abilities.

Certification & Legal: Must possess a valid Driver’s Licence, reliable transportation, and Criminal Record Check, First Aid certification is a valued asset.
