The Corporate Management Services Branch is looking for a Survey Technician for an indeterminate position. The position is classified as a RÉ-04 ($66,836 to $85,106 per annum – under review).

JOB OVERVIEW
As the Survey Technician, you will support and participate in the production of engineering, construction, topographic, legal and geodetic surveys. You will assist and support the Geomatics Services team in the development and delivery of geomatics products and services, delivered through geospatial and spatial technologies. The support services include data management, measurement and surveying, involving National Capital Commission (NCC) assets, land, property, waterways, buildings and office spaces, for internal and external client organizations.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in geomatics or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in geomatics and/or field surveying in a technical role.
KNOWLEDGE
- Of field data downloading, post-processing techniques and quality control analysis.
- Of specialized geomatics software used to process and prepare basic technical data, drawings, and documentation.
- Of technical references, methods, geographic coordinate systems, map projections and orthoimagery to support data validation and instrument calibration.
ABILITIES
- To assess field instruments and perform required calibrations.
- To assess the integrity and compatibility of data when updating digital files and databases.
- To identify and resolve issues related to data collection, compilation and presentation.
- To communicate and exchange information on technical and procedural matters.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Operating various tools of 10 to 25 kg (23 to 55 lbs.).
- Transporting of equipment, lifting and handling geomatic instruments, and moving around on uneven terrain.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in the field.
- Sustaining periods of mental concentration and visual focus, attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
- May occasionally operate drones, small watercraft, ATVs and snowmobiles, as required.
- Work is often performed outdoors with occasional exposure to extreme and unpredictable weather conditions.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
- Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB.
- Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace.
- The person selected for this position is expected to work on site.
